Emery Harney Withers Jr., 77, Cynthiana, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the University of Kentucky Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Cynthiana, Dec. 18, 1934 to the late Emery Harney Sr. and Nell Walker Withers. He was a lifelong restaurant owner and a United States Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John William Withers and Emery Harney ""Butch"" Withers III.
Survivors include: a daughter, Nell Withers (Timothy Alan) McCauley, Florida; a sister, Phyllis (Eddie) Sheats, Cynthiana; a brother, Jeffrey Taylor (Mary Louise) Withers, Danville; four grandchildren, Britney Lowe Withers (Jamie) Standridge, Ooltewah, Tenn., Emery H. ""Witt"" (Christina) Withers IV, Cynthiana, Destiny McCauley, Bowling Green, Fla. and Adam McCauley, Bowling Green, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Shelby Withers and Chelsea Withers, both of Cynthiana and Jade Standridge, Matthew Standridge, Madison Standridge and Emery Dean Standridge, all of Ooltewah, Tenn.; and his previous wife, Sylvia Kay Withers, Cynthiana.
A celebration of life was held Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Cynthiana Christian Church by Dr. Larry Bishop and Dr. John Withers with a Masonic Lodge service. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
