Harry E. Budden Jr., 66, husband of Jennie A. Scales Budden, died Monday Oct. 1, 2012 at the Markey Cancer Center, Lexington.
A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., he was the son of the late Harry E. Budden Sr. and the late Ann Sojkowski Budden. He was an Attorney in Paris and the surrounding area for many years operating the Budden Law Office. He received his undergraduate degree from Marshall University in 1968, and his Juris Doctor degree in 1973 from the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Paris Masonic Lodge #2 F&AM, and served in the United States Army being discharged with the rank of Captain after having served in Vietnam with the 101st Engineer Battalion. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, received the Meritorious Achievement Medal in ground operations against hostile forces, Department of the Army Commendation Medal, and was a Army Reserve Commissioned Officer. He was admitted to the KY Bar Association, Commonwealth of Kentucky Court of Appeals, the US Court of Appeals, Eastern District US District Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Survivors include: one daughter, Priscilla Jean Budden, Louisville; one step daughter, Tiffany Lippert, Frankfort; one grandson, Brennan Lippert; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sharon Budden, Grand Rapids, Mich., Robert and Judy Budden, Grand Haven, Mich. and William and Sandra Budden, Kenova, W.Va.; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Greg Wichert, Hudson, Fla.; mother-in-law, Jean Julian, Lexington; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Penny Wiseman, Lexington; several beloved nieces and nephews; and his special pet, Law Dog Max.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 311 High St., Paris by the Rev. Chris Brannock-Wanter. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the church with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Santana, Paul Morrison, Joseph Fooks, Richard Budden, Robert Budden and Jeremy Mattox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Stanfield, William Budden and Joseph Wiseman.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to God's Pantry, Main Warehouse Location, 1685 Jaggie Fox Way, Lexington, KY 40511; PAWS animal shelter, 6 Legion Dr., Paris, KY and the Lexington Human Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40511.
