Hershel ""Huck"" Turner, 93, Cynthiana, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus.

He was born in Harrison County, Dec. 13, 1919, to the late Raymond and Emma Lee Alegree Turner. He was a farmer, a member of the Cynthiana Elk's Lodge #438 and was an avid supporter of Harrison County's sports programs. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a prisoner of war for 23 months. He was a teacher, coach, loyal UK fan and a great supporter of higher education. He generously gave an endowment to the Eastern Kentucky University making scholarships available to those Harrison County students meeting the requirements.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Sanders, and is survived by many close friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 1 at Ware Funeral Home by Pastor Mike Coppersmith. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery.
