Irvin Lee Hawkins, 62, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
A native of Nicholas County, he was born Nov. 11, 1952, a son of the late Elmer Lee and Susan Jolly Hawkins, and was a longtime fencing contractor and farmer. "Big Bubba" enjoyed turtle hunting, hogging, fishing, hunting, tinkering around with lawn mowers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his special friend, Sharon Watkins, Carlisle; his children, Anita Spencer and Thomas (Crystal) Kiskaden, and their mother Brenda Hawkins, all of Cynthiana; three brothers, Rondall (Bonnie) Hawkins and Roy Hawkins Sr., all of Carlisle, and Gary (Carla) Hawkins, Fleming County; a sister, Linda Sue (Billie) Hendricks, Mt. Olivet; and six grandchildren, Jason Gunsauley, Chelsea, Haley and Zachary Kiskaden, and Jayden and Brooklynn Watkins.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Watkins, a brother, James Marion "Pete" Hawkins and five sisters, Charlotte Faye Hawkins, Brenda Lou Smith, Carolyn Ann Asbury, Eva Jean Fitzwater and Virginia Mae Kiser.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Donovan. His cremains will be scattered on his beloved farm. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
