Jimmie Lee Barnes, 72, Harrison County, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Cynthiana, Nov. 5, 1942, to the late W. Garrett and Edith Mae Sowder Barnes. He was an electronics engineer, farmer, a member and deacon of the Cynthiana Christian Church, and a United States Air Force veteran.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Martha Shropshire Barnes; two sons, David Lee Barnes and his wife, Lali, and Mark Stewart Barnes and his wife, Michelle, all of Harrison County; six grandchildren, Arden Shropshire Barnes, Tristan Aulick Barnes, Larken Lee Barnes, Camden Brannock Barnes, Grayson Beth Barnes and Burley Russell Barnes; two sisters, Janice Platt and her husband, Lynden, and Linda Stubbs, all of Cynthiana; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis S. Cooper and Mary S. Carr, both of Cynthiana; an aunt, Anna Lee Sowder Lowry of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at Ware Funeral Home by Dr. Larry Bishop and Dr. Tim Teater. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cooper, James Carr, Gary Roland, Gary Ammerman, Harlan Thomas Power Jr., and David Mullen.
