John R. Wilson, 87, Nicholasville, died Sunday Dec. 1, 2013.

He was born to the late Charles and Sadie Goheagan Wilson in Cynthiana, Ky. on July 21, 1926. He was a veteran of the US Army/Air Force serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis Fields Wilson; two sons, Michael Robert (Luanne) Wilson and Joel Dan Wilson, both of Lexington; and three grandchildren, J.R, Elizabeth and Benjamin Wilson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betsy Franklin and Violet Slyder, and two brothers, Chester and Roy Wilson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Cynthiana Christian Church by Dr. Larry Bishop. The family will receive guests from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private. Clark Legacy Center is in charge of arrangements. ""Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it glowed."" Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
