John Roland Jenkins, 90, Frankfort, Ky., died Thursday, March 24, 2016.
He was born Aug. 10, 1925 in Nicholas County, Ky., a son of the late William Jefferson and Ethel Harney Jenkins, and was preceded in death by his wife Garnelle Malone Jenkins, his daughter Susan Renee Jenkins Powers, great-grandson Dominic Henry and siblings, Leonard, Donald, Mary, Christine, Roscoe, Merle and Roger Jenkins.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Frankfort, a retired Navy Chief, having served his country during World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was retired from the Federal Government as a civil service employee.
Survivors include: one son, Ron (Terry) Jenkins, Frankfort; two daughters, Dina Perry, Lawrenceburg, and Teresa (Bill) Clements, Lawrenceburg; seven grandchildren, Tina Campbell, Jason Mauer, Edward Henry, Daniel Henry, Jared Powers, Erin Powers, Stacey Lykins; and six great-grandchildren, Whitney Cardwell, Jonathan Campbell, Audrey Mauer, Parker Lykins, Owen Lykins and Savanna Henry.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
