John William Adams, 77, beloved husband of Peggy Sue Denny Adams, who preceded him in death, was born June 25, 1936 in Cynthiana, Ky. to Welborn and Sarah Adams and died on Nov. 6, 2013 of acute leukemia.
He is survived by three sisters, Betty King, Ronnie Edmondson, and Brenda Adams and preceded in death by three brothers, Junior Adams (Patty), Don Adams (Ruth), and Philip Adams; three children, Lisa Tierney (David), J. Bradley Adams (Sarah Egerer) and Leslie Gregory (David); nine grandchildren, Adam Owen Tierney, Aryana Elisabeth Tierney, Micah Jon Gregory, Ian Miles Tierney, Josiah Thomas Gregory, Conor Michael Tierney, Noah David Gregory, Tobiah Mark Gregory, and John Orgil Adams.
He graduated from the University of Louisville with a BS in physics, served in the Navy on a submarine and spent most of his career as an engineer for Eastman Kodak. He was a nature photographer, wood carver, and faithful volunteer at various organizations, was a devoted husband to Peggy and a gentle and loving father and grandfather. John and Peggy raised their children in Rochester, N.Y., retired to Berea, Ky. in 1994 and moved to West Grove, Penn. in 2011.
A Celebration of John's life will be held at Willowdale Chapel, 675 Unionville Road, Kennett Square, Penn. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at 10 a.m.
