Margaret Katherine Cross Mardis, 86, Cynthiana, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio, Feb. 7, 1929, to the late John Wesley and Mary Alice Arnett Cross, and was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Cross; two sisters, Donna Davidson and Barbara Johnson; and a special pet dog, Casper.
She was a secretary at Westside Elementary, retired book-keeper and teller from 5/3rd Bank, and a member and Sunday school teacher at First United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful grandmother, former girl scout leader, and loved to cross stitch.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lorie Kay Miller, Louisville, and Sally Ann Mardis (Mike) Mullins, Bourbon County; a brother, Terry Cross, Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kristin Alyss Miller, Jamie Marie Rogers, Jaclyn Leigh Noble, and Jodi Beth Mullins; five great-grandchildren, Ray Ann Noble, Avery Maye Rogers, Rylie Grace Rogers, Baylee Ann Rogers, and Lake James Noble; two nieces; and a nephew.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at Battle Grove Cemetery by Pastor Mike Coppersmith. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be at Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
