Margaret Marsh Douglas Brown, 90, of Lexington, Ky., widow of Ray Thomas Brown, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital.
She was born in Cynthiana, Ky. to the late Richard Leland and Elizabeth Frances Marsh Douglas. Though a country girl from Kentucky, she traveled the world with her husband including extended trips to Johannesburg, Turin, Birmingham, and lived in Paris for two years. She was a longtime active member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Ray Brown Schachtel (Bruce), Baltimore, Md., and Brenda Brown Gardiner, Lexington; honorary son, Seth Daniel Tuska, Lexington; two grandsons, Benjamin McCauley Schachtel, New York City, and Graeme David Gardiner, Louisville; a niece, Dixie Jo Cafferty, Concord, N.C.; two nephews, J. Donald Ross Jr. and David Ross, both of Cynthiana; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Douglas Ross.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 7 at Bluegrass United Church of Christ, the Rev. Marsha Moors-Charles officiated.
Pallbearers were: Benjamin Schachtel, Graeme Gardiner, Seth Tuska, Bruce Schachtel, James Brown, and Danny Marsh.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dixie Jo Ross Cafferty, Frances King, Reba Lacey-Whalen, Vixen Gardiner, and Kona Gardiner. She was laid to rest next to her husband at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, Ky.
