Phyllis Ann Shropshire Cooper, 80, Cynthiana, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Harrison County, Ky., to the late Russell Stewart and Louise Toadvine Shropshire. She was a member of Cynthiana Christian Church, a graduate of Georgetown College, and a retired employee of the USDA Soil Conservation Service, serving Harrison and Carroll counties in Kentucky.
She and her husband of 48 years, Darrell Hickman Cooper, resided in Carrollton, Ky. from 1965-2000, where they owned and operated Tastee Freeze/Cooper's Restaurant, before returning home to be near family. Darrell preceded her in death Nov. 30, 2005.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kevin Cooper and his wife Judy; grandchildren, Mitchell Shropshire Cooper and Ann Louise Cooper, all of Lexington; sisters, Mary Shropshire Carr and Martha Shropshire Barnes of Cynthiana; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Larry W. Bishop. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. In accordance with her wishes, burial will be at a later date in Jacksonville Cemetery, Bourbon County, Ky.
