Rhea Mathewson Krebs, 80, Cynthiana, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 5, 1937 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Olive Ruth Eggert Mathewson. She was a retired employee of Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company, where she worked in several different capacities, and was a member of the Church of the Advent, Episcopal in Cynthiana. Rhea was an accomplished quilter and loved working with different county extension quilting groups such as the "Crazy Quilters" in Campbell County and "The Posse" in Boone County, as well as groups in Pendleton and Harrison counties.
Left to cherish her memory are her "S.O." Richard "Dick" Wolsing, Cynthiana; a son, Bill (Connie) Slayback, Florence; two daughters, Cindy (Barry) Shelton, Fort Myers, Florida, and Carrie Baird, Covington; four grandchildren, Denise Vocke, Jill Koenig, Brandi Barth and Colton Baird; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Vocke and Emma Koenig.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Advent, Episcopal by the Rev. Paul Wanter. Inurnment will be held at the Dunmore Cemetery in Scranton, Penn. at a later date. Visitation with the family and lunch will follow the service in the Parrish Hall. Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
