Sidney Scott Grannis, DVM, 77, Cynthiana, Ky., died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky.

He was born in Fleming County, Ky., March 4, 1936, to the late Jack Eckles and Lucille Estill Grannis. He was a retired Veterinarian and cattle farmer, a 1954 graduate of Fleming County High School, received his Pre Veterinarian Medicine Degree from the University of Kentucky, received his Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine Degree from Auburn University in 1961. He was a member of Cynthiana Christian Church, Farm House Fraternity, Alpha Psi Fraternity, Kentucky Veterinarian Medical Association, American Veterinarian Medical Association and co-founder of the Kentucky Limousin Association.
Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Loretta Seithers Grannis, a son, Scott Thomas (Michelle) Grannis, and a daughter, Lou Ann (David) Garrison, all of Cynthiana; a brother, Billy Bruce (Marjorie) Grannis, Flemingsburg; a sister, Betty Lou (Nelson) Donaldson, Lexington; granddaughters, Kelsey Ann Grannis and Courtney Thomas Grannis, grandsons, Charles Johnson Garrison and Augustus Cannon Garrison, all of Cynthiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. by Dr. Larry W. Bishop at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
