Sonja Carol Olin, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Cynthiana, Aug. 3, 1948, to the late Russell Vernon and Martha Elizabeth Fryman Whitaker. She was a retired supervisor for the 3M Company and was voted the 2015 3M International and National Volunteer of the Year, coached pigtail and ponytail softball leagues and a Berry Senior Citizens volunteer. She was an avid bowler and treasurer for two bowling leagues, Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438 and Berry United Methodist Church. She was member of the Woman's Business Chapter in Cynthiana, Cynthiana Lady Elks, Berry Homemakers Group, USBC Hall of Fame, Berry United Methodist Church and helped raise money for the Relay for life with the Bowlers-R-US.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore "Ted" Olin; five sons, Leslie Winkle, Falmouth, Paul (Judy) Olin, Harrison County, Preston Winkle, Aurora, Ind., Nathan Olin, Harrison County and Russell (Gabriella) Olin, Carlin, Nev.; four brothers, Collis (Rosemary) Whitaker, Cynthiana and Kenneth (Linda) Whitaker, Mitchell (Louise) Whitaker and Kelly Joe Whitaker, all of Berry; two sisters, Leta (Garry) Latimer, Cynthiana and Shelly David, Georgetown; two grandchildren, Domino Olin and Ozzy Baldwin; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Ware Funeral Home by Ricky Mattox. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday with an Elks service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery. There will be a fellowship following the committal service at the Cynthiana Elks Lodge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Berry United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be her sons and honorary pallbearers will be her brothers and Garry Latimer.
