Thomas Jackson "Uncle Jack" McCauley, 97, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Harrison County, Ky., July 29, 1916, to the late Ezra Wells and Lucy Rena Harney McCauley.
He was a member of Salem Church of Christ and an honorably discharged Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of Blake and Johnson and Kawneer Co., and a retired farmer. McCauley loved story telling, roller skating and puzzles.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Arthur Carrol McCauley, Cynthia Mary Fritz, Ezra Wells McCauley Jr., Ray Melvin McCauley, Sarah Frances Shirl, Lydia Beal Waters and Sibyl Rose McCauley.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Josephine Cordray McCauley; one son, David Nelson Cordray (Peggy) McCauley; one sister, Margaret Wilson; and one brother, Herschel Scott McCauley; grandchildren, David Thomas Cordray, Richard Nelson Cordray, Linda Carol Cordray and Amy Jo Sidle; great grandchildren, Amy Renee Thomas, Michael Lynn (Stephanie) Thomas, Lauren Elizabeth Cordray, Samantha Jane Cordray, Amber Jo Sidle and Harold Allen Sidle Jr.; six great great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Salem Church of Christ, by Rev. Ernie Haven, Rev. Stephen Staggs and Rev. Dale Kendricks, with burial in Salem Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Salem Church of Christ or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Active pallbearers are: Michael Thomas, Allen Sidle, Tom Cordray, Ricky Cordray, Roger Marsh, Curtis Marsh and Samuel Click. Honorary pallbearers are nephews and great nephews.
