Wanda Stone Townsend, 88, of Burlington, formerly of Berry, passed away on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Hospice of St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1929 in Corinth, Ky., and was a daughter of the late Guy Hoover and Virgie Meeks Dunaway. A graduate of Berry High School, she married Harold Ward Townsend on Oct. 6, 1958, and her dear husband of 38 years preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1997. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of the Berry Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Vonda (Daryl) Black of Burlington, Ky.; two granddaughters, Krista King (Chris) Oaks and Kellie King (Mike McLauren); and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her brother, William "Buck" Dunaway and her sister, Nina Siler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Berry, Ky. Interment will take place in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday preceding the service at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Berry Christian Church, 320 Main Street, Berry, KY 41003.
