William Miller Allen, 83
William Miller Allen, 83, Dayton, Ohio, died Oct. 19, 2013.
He was the second of four sons born to Isham Miller Allen Jr. and Mayme Mildred (Wilson) Allen. He was born in Cynthiana, Ky. and graduated from Banneker High School.
He enlisted in the Navy and served as a Medic for 10 years including the Korean War. In 1962, he graduated from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. In 1963, he married his sweetheart, Rose Marie Osborne, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 15, 2013. He continued to serve in the Navy Reserves and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1978, worked as a federal civil servant for over 20 years and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Allen, Charles Allen and Donald Allen.
Survivors include: his wife, Rose Allen; four children, David Allen (Flori), California, Elizabeth Mack (Jack), Ohio, Catherine Allen, Hawaii, and Abdullah Adam (Khadijah), Maryland; seven grandchildren, Terra, Michael, Lorenzo, Ali, Safiyah, Jenna, and Tam; and two great-grandchildren, Micah and Mikayla; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 26 at College Hill Presbyterian Church, Dayton.
