Phillip G. Meier, of DeKalb, passed away suddenly in his home Sunday, June 3, 2018.
He was born July 26, 1950 in Sycamore the son of Avener and Emily Meier. He was an employee of Driv-Loc of Sycamore for forty one years. For many years Phil served as a volunteer in the Illinois Dept. of Corrections and specifically at the DeKalb County Jail. He organized religious services for the inmates and brought encouragement and hope to them one on one. He was also active in "Courtside", a national organization to bring encouragement to families of the incarcerated.
He is survived by his son, Joshua (Tiffany) Meier of Sycamore; a daughter, Rachel Craft of Florida; a daughter, Janelle (Daniel) Quinones Ricci of Florida; a brother, Doug Meier of DeKalb; six grandchildren; an aunt, Betty Jean Haish of Sycamore; and several cousins.
He was a member of the DeKalb Foursquare Church.
A memorial service will be held for Phil on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the church located at 2nd & Grove Streets in DeKalb.
