Phyllys Rae Parkins Born: August 26, 1927 Died: May 16, 2016 Phyllys "Fuzzy" Rae (Bacon) Parkins, 88, passed away peacefully at Franklin General Hospital, with family by her side on May 16, 2016, in Hampton, Iowa. "Fuzzy", as she was known by friends and family, was born on August 26, 1927, in Kingston Township, to Edythe and George Bacon. She married Warren Parkins Feb. 19, 1972, in Sycamore, IL. Fuzzy worked at Duplex Products for many years and after retirement she loved and cared for other people's children. She was lovingly known as Grandma and Mom to many people. She enjoyed outings with friends and family. She loved camping, fishing, playing cards and a round of golf including making a hole in one at Sycamore Golf Course. She is survived by her children, Mary Camillo, Linda (John) Mohr, Allen (Judy) Bryant, George Bryant, Bonnie Underwood, Richard (Shelley) Bryant, Sue (Tom) Herst; and stepdaughter, Brenda Nehles; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia Jones, Violet Ramey, and Jean Cornell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Parkins; her parents; 7 brothers, Ronald, Bernard, Russell, Paul, Elmer, Wilmer and Walter; 4 sisters, Nellie Smith, Donna Grimm, Mary Ellen Bacon and a baby sister(stillborn); and son-in-law, Tulio Camillo. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St. Sycamore with Rev. Jackie Wills officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM yo 1:00 PM on Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Graveside service to be held at a later date. Pearson, Richard L. - Sycamore  
Richard L. Pearson Born: February 6, 1929; in Elgin, IL Died: May 8, 2016; in Sycamore, IL Richard "Dick" L. Pearson peacefully passed away due to complications relating from colon cancer, on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at his Sycamore, IL home and surrounded by family. He was 87 years young. Dick was born on February 6, 1929, to Spainer and Inez Pearson in Elgin, IL. After graduating from Maple Park High School in 1947, he attended Monmouth College for one year and, in 1949, earned a junior accounting degree from Ellis Business College. On November 29, 1949, Dick married Martha Self to whom he was married until her death in 2000. After making their initial home in St. Charles, IL where he worked for Hotel Baker, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a yeoman for four years. While he was stationed in Norfolk, VA both Roger and Sally were born. After leaving the Navy, Dick attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Upon his 1956 graduation, he accepted a job at Coultrip Funeral Home and moved his family to Sycamore where his youngest son Ric was born and the children attended school. Desiring to work more regular hours, Dick returned to his business background and began a 35-year career at Leader Oil, retiring only when the business closed. Not ready to be fully retired, he earned his real estate license and worked for Century 21 for the next 10 years. Dick's retirement years were filled with fishing, playing golf, attending ball games, and traveling. In 2003, he married Barbara Haag and, once again, had a companion with whom to share these activities. In addition to being a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, he was a lifetime member of the Maple Park American Legion and a Mason. Throughout his entire 87 years, Dick was known for his quick wit, sharp mind, love of sports, and commitment to family. In addition to having a mathematical mind, he could remember stories with amazing detail, especially if they had anything to do with athletics. He fiercely and loyally supported his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their many activities. A man of integrity, Dick was patient, wise, and honest. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceeding Dick in death were his parents, his first wife, Martha; and infant granddaughter, Jordan Pearson. He is survived by his current wife, Barbara; children, Roger (Sally) Pearson of Chandler, AZ; Sally (Gary) Blake of Belvidere, IL; Ric (Michelle) Pearson of Oregon, WI; grandchildren, Mindy (Jon) Solem, Marcy (Brad) Stark, Spencer, Luke, Bekken, and Gabe Pearson; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving Dick are his four sisters, Inez (Robert) Kenneway of Sycamore, Joan Haug of Maple Park, Janet Lenschow of Sycamore, and Joyce (Roland) Crobbe of Maple Park. In addition, he is missed by countless nieces and nephews, devoted friends, and Barb's sons, Keith (Beth) Haag and Mark Haag, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Dick will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Avenue, Sycamore, IL. There will be a visitation from 9:00 to 10:15 AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sycamore United Methodist Church. Peterson, Ronald O. - Maple Park  
Ronald O. Peterson Born: July 22, 1930; in Chicago, IL Died: May 21, 2016; in New Albany, IN Ronald O. Peterson, age 85, formally of Maple Park went to be with his Lord on May 21, 2016, at the Providence Nursing Facility in New Albany, IN. He was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1930, in Chicago the son of Oscar Andrew and Eva Augusta Peterson. Although Ronald lived in many different places he always considered the town where he grew up, Maple Park, his home. He attended local schools and graduated from Maple Park High School in 1948. After graduation he learned on the job from his father how to run a business.He married the love of his life who happened to be his high school sweetheart, Helen Imogene Merriman, on March 3, 1949. Ronald was a business owner and grocer at Peterson's Grocery Store from the time he graduated high school until 1973. This is when he felt a calling to switch careers and become a salesman for Decatur Custom Tool until his retirement in 1995. He was a long time member of his home church, Grace United Methodist Church in Maple Park. Ronald loved people and could talk to anybody, which is why he was a great businessman/salesman. He enjoyed fishing all his life and went on many fishing trips with friends, during which it seemed he was always the treasurer and cook. Ronald didn't even like fish, but he enjoyed the company. He and his bride also enjoyed many trips with their dear friends Joe and Marge Turk. He leaves behind one daughter, Lori (John) Riggs; two grandchildren, Ben Riggs and Amanda (Eddie) Carlisle; and one great grandson, Levi Carlisle. Ronald now joins his parents, Oscar and Eva; wife, Helen Imogene (Perudy); and his son, Michael. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce Street in Elburn. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church, 506 Willow St, Maple Park, IL 60151. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Seitz, Richard - Rochelle  
Richard Seitz Born: January 24, 1943 Died: May 21, 2016 Richard Seitz, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, age 73, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Serenity Home in Oregon, with his family at his side. He was born on January 24, 1943, in Rochelle, the son of Arthur C. and Virginia E. Vogeler Seitz. Richard married Peggy A. Powell on April 23, 1965, in DeKalb. He served in the US Navy, and then worked for over 30 years for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company. Richard was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Rochelle Township High School Class of 1960, and after retirement volunteered at the Rochelle Museum. He enjoyed woodworking and was known to be able to fix anything. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife, Peggy; 3 daughters, Kim Pierce of Rochelle, Sherry Seitz of St. Louis, MO, and Amy (Daniel) Hust of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Tim (Kathleen) Isley, Kelly (Tony) Musselman, Carly (Nate) Vogeler, Cody, and Hannah Hust; 5 great grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie and Connor Isley, Calli Isley, Brooke Musselman and soon to be delivered, baby Musselman; sister, Sandra (Wendell) Colwill of Rochelle; and lifelong friend, Larry. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Reverends Dave Rogula and Rob Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. CYRIL R. SHERMAN Born: May 31, 1929 in Aurora Died: May 17, 2016 in Maple Park Cyril R. Sherman, age 85, of Maple Park, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home. He was born on May 31, 1929 in Aurora, IL, the son of Raymond and Louise (Jeanblanc) Sherman. Cyril was united in marriage on May 26, 1951 to Nancy L. Schwartz and they spent the next 64 happy years of their lives together. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption in Maple Park, IL and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Sherman was a longtime member of the Aurora Carpenters Local # 916 in Aurora, IL. Cyril was also a member of the Masonic Order Raven Lodge #303 in Oswego, IL. He had great interest and enjoyed working with gas engines. Cyril was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Kathleen Louise Sparrow Born: May 12, 1948; in Sycamore, IL Died: April 25, 2016; in Boynton Beach, FL Kathleen 'Kathy' Louise (Sabin) Sparrow, 67, formerly of Sycamore and Kirkland, IL found peace on April 25, 2016 in Boynton Beach, FL. Born on May 12, 1948 in Sycamore, IL to Arnold and Ida (Wackt) Sabin. Kathy had a fondness for decorating and beautifying her surroundings and this included people in her life. As a sophomore at Sycamore High School, Kathy became the shampoo girl at Mary Lou's Beauty Shop. After she graduated in 1966, Kathy went to cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician, so she could get paid doing what she loved to do. Kathy married Gene Sparrow on January 23, 1971 and they had two children together. She worked at Mary Lou's Beauty shop for over forty years until the salon changed ownership in 2007 and became Salon 64. In 2014 she retired and moved to Florida to be with her children. She loved seeing her ladies each week and took pride in her work. She often said that going to the beauty shop was her therapy. Kathy had an infectious personality, her smile and laugh could always brighten your day. In life she was an angel on earth, now she has ascended to the heavens to be a guardian for the living. TTFN I love you Mom. Kathy is survived by her Daughter, Erin Sparrow of Boynton Beach, FL; Mother, Ida Sabin of Rochelle, IL; Brother, Kent (Connie) Sabin of Rochelle, IL; Sister, Kim (Robert) Ristow of Appleton, WI; Brother-In-Law, Guy (Joyce) Sparrow of Kirkland, IL; Brother-In-Law, Greg (Jenifer) Sparrow of Rochelle, IL; Sister-In-Law, Maureen (David) Firkins of Kirkland, IL. Several nieces and nephews: Sean (Kim) Sparrow, Josh (Lindsey) Sparrow, Tom (Zaianne) Sparrow, Kevin Sparrow, Aidan Tangerose, Christin Firkins, Amy (Andrew) Pankow, Grant and Cara Sabin. She was preceded in death by: her Father, Arnold Sabin; Husband, Gene Sparrow; Son, Andrew Sparrow; Mother and Father In-Law, Guy and Winnie Sparrow; and Nephew, Dan Firkins. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Catherine's of Genoa Catholic Church by Father Ahles. Burial will be in the Maple Cemetery (Kirkland) following mass. Srajer, Vivian - Elburn  
Vivian Dorothy Srajer Born: December 27, 1947 Died: May 20, 2016 Vivian Dorothy Srajer, age 68 of DeKalb passed away unexpectedly doing something she loved on her farm, on Friday, May 20, 2016. She came into this world on Saturday, December 27, 1947 in Nashua, New Hampshire the daughter of Adrien and June (Newcomb) Lacasse. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1966. Vivian married her love Michael Srajer on June 11, 1989 in Sugar Grove. She retired from Delnor Community Hospital where she had worked for 23 years. Vivian was a member of the Kane County Mounted Rangers, Angus and Appaloosa Associations, the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, and also a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. Vivian's proudest accomplishment was building and establishing Battle Creek Farm. She enjoyed spending time on the family's farm with all her animals including their registered Black Angus cattle, champion Boer goats, prized horses and registered standard poodles. Survivors include her husband, Michael; three children, Lance (April) Sickler, Lara (Jennilyn) LaDage, Alan (Kristin) Stocki; four grandchildren, Keanan, Kaylan, Elias, and Kalan; and five siblings, Vivian, Debbie, Noreen, Dennis, and Robyn. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Adrien. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Conley Funeral Home in Elburn. A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Kaneville Cemetery in Kaneville.

DOROTHY A. STEVENS Born: July 20, 1923 in Marysville, Kansas Died: May 17, 2016 in Rapid, SD Dorothy Ann (Pacha) Stevens, 92, of Rapid City, South Dakota, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Westhills Village Health Care in Rapid City. Born July 20, 1923, in Marysville, Kansas , she was the daughter of Vincent and Lenora (Rombeck ) Pacha. Dorothy was educated in the Marysville schools and graduated from St. Anthony Nurse's Training School in Sabetha, Kansas in 1944. She worked in different hospitals in Kansas and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Corps in 1945, where she met her husband, William E. Stevens. They were married October 28, 1945. While making their home in DeKalb, they raised their son, Jerre. Upon retirement in 1982, they moved to Rapid City. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sarah Stevens, of Sandwich; siblings Albert and Raymond Pacha, and Gertrude Anderson, all of Marysville, Arthur Pacha of Bremen, Kansas, Patricia Funke of Fargo, North Dakota; and two step grandsons, Derek and Scott Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Stevens in 2008; son Jerre Stevens, in 2010; and siblings Theodore, Bernard, Leo, and Leonard Pacha, and Viola Reynolds. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with the Rev. Derek Rogers officiating. Arrangements were handled by Osheim Funeral Home in Rapid City, and Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dorothy A.
