Anton W. "Tony" Benzinger Sr., 65, of Genoa, Ill., died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
Born Aug. 16, 1941, in Oak Park, he was the son of Anton F. and Gertrude F. (Voigt) Benzinger. He married Ella Halper on Oct. 8, 1966, in Hinsdale.
Tony was a process engineer in the petrochemical industry. He worked for EPC in Mount Prospect, retiring after many years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ella, of Genoa; two sons, Anton W. (Barbara) Benzinger Jr. of Genoa and Karl (Arlette) Benzinger of Plainfield; a daughter, Karen (William) Folowell of Genoa; four grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Aria and Holden Benzinger; his mother, Gertrude Benzinger of Sycamore; two sisters, Belinda (Norman) Mason of Albuquerque, N.M., and Diane Benzinger of Sycamore; a niece, Erin Mason; and an aunt, Ann Schroeter of West Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL 60135, with the Rev. E. Timothy Frick officiating. Burial will be at Genoa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at the funeral home.
