Craig Allen Alsup, 37, of Rockford, Ill., died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Born Dec. 5, 1969, in Rockford, he was the son of Burton P. and Ada Lynn (Mason) Alsup. He married Kathleen Smiley on Sept. 23, 2000, at the Klehm Arboretum in Rockford.
Craig was a graduate of Genoa High School and Northern Illinois University. He enjoyed performing arts, stand-up comedy and being with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Alsup of Rockford; a stepdaughter, Kristin Ballard of Rockford; his parents, Burton and Ada Lynn Alsup of Kingston; his mother- and father-in-law, Cecelia and James Smiley; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Lou) Alsup and Joann (Duane) Rhoades; a brother-in-law, Stan (Robin) Smiley; a niece, Paula Runyon; and many beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Curt Alsup, and his grandparents, Allen and Gwendolyn Mason and Burt and Mary Alsup.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa, with the Rev. James P. Freund officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at the funeral home.
