Evelyn I. Aldis, 85, of Cortland, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Hinckley, she was the daughter of Ralph and Lilly (Heyer) Baie. She married Stanley R. Aldis Sr. on May 11, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa.
Evelyn was a member of Cortland United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed at General Electric in DeKalb for more than 28 years in the Winding Department.
She is survived by four children, Diane (Larry) Baker of Kirkland, Stanley (Nancy) Aldis Jr. and Steven Aldis, both of Rochelle, and Becky (Jack Leis) Parks of DeKalb; eight grandchildren, Edie, Aric, Aaron, Angela, Natalie, Brooke, Ryan and Robert; 12 great-grandchildren, Shonna, Robert, Maxwell, Brittany, Kayla, Shelby, Jonathon, Faith, Paige, Jackson, Bethany and Noah; two sisters, Norma Callahan of DeKalb and Cleo Crews of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; five step-grandchildren, Marci, Keith, Sarah, Amy and Lesley; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; a daughter, Rita; two infant grandchildren, Laurie and Marcy; two brothers, Orn Baie and Clifford Baie; and two sisters, LaVerna Larson and Arlene Anderson.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Wendy Witt officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Rest Cemetery in Cortland. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
