Irene B. Anderson, 87, of Sycamore, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at home.
Born March 27, 1923, in rural Burlington, the daughter of William and Lillian (Schultz) Fehrmann, she married Leonard LeRoy Anderson on Sept. 20, 1947, at St. John Church in Elgin.
Irene worked as a piano stringer for Wurlitzer for 25 years. She and her husband owned and operated Anderson Used Furniture Store in Sycamore for 40 years. Irene was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore. She enjoyed going to the riverboat casinos and trying her luck on the slot machines, but most of all, she adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.
Irene is survived by one son, Alan (Janel) Anderson of Grand Junction, Colo.; one daughter, Lynn (Mike) Henke of Clare; five grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson of Denver, Colo., Michael Burton and Kayleigh Burton, both of Sycamore, Lacey (Andrew) Kalkware of Denver and Brendon Anderson of Grand Junction, Colo.; one sister, Loretta Beck of Elgin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1992; and nine brothers and sisters.
A private visitation and burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt officiating.
