Isabell G. Ahrweiler, 83, of DeKalb, Ill., formerly of Addison, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
Born May 25, 1924, in Coatbridge, Scotland, she was the daughter of Robert and Agnes "Nan" (Cunningham) Riley. She married Ernest Emil Ahrweiler on Nov. 26, 1947, in Chicago.
Isabell was a volunteer for Unity Hospice in the DeKalb area for several years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Villa Park. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years in Addison. Isabell was a member of the Addison Fullerton Elementary School PTA and served as president of the PTA Board.
She is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Glen) Ericksen of DeKalb; a grandson, Mark Ericksen of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Verda Riley of Sussex, Wis.; a brother, Guthrie "Scottie" (Chris) Riley of New Berlin, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Ahrweiler Sr.; a son, Ernest Jr.; a sister, Myra Mills; a brother, Robert Riley; and her parents.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Worth, Ill. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
