FORT ATKINSON, WIS. – James Nelson Sakalauski, 55, of Fort Atkinson, Wis., died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1958, in DeKalb, Ill., the son of Albert John and Joyce Elinor (Nelson) Sakalauski, Jim was a 1978 graduate of DeKalb High School. He was a special-needs person who formerly worked at Opportunity House in Sycamore and was currently living in Fort Atkinson in an Abilities Inc. group home, where he found great fun, comfort and love.
He is survived by his brothers, David Sakalauski of St. Charles, Mo., and Tom (Nancy) Sakalauski of Glen Carbon; five nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2008; his mother on March 5, 2013; and a nephew, John.
The private memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn of Malta Congregational Church officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, DeKalb. Cremation is by Anderson Funeral Home Crematory.
