JOHN M. PARNELL(1930 - 2013)

BISBEE, Ariz. – John M. Parnell, 83, of Bisbee, Ariz., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, in his sleep at his home.
Born May 25, 1930, in Chicago, the son John and Bessie (Jansky) Parnell, he married Edna Crumbacher on Oct. 3, 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
John worked at Fourth Street Motors and General Electric in DeKalb and then at Duplex products in Sycamore for 17 years. He and his wife moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1979, and he worked for B. Bunch until he retired in 1992, then they moved to Bisbee.
He was an avid gun collector and a lifetime member of the NRA. John was a competition rifle shooter for many years. He was well-known for helping his friends in need, but best known for the ability to fix anything.
Survivors include his wife, Edna, of 61 years; two sons, Dan (Jill) Parnell, of Sycamore, and John (Lori) Parnell, of Berlin, Wis.; six grandchildren, Christopher, of Sycamore, Jamie Jensen, DeKalb, Phillip (Beth), of Omro, Wis., Brian (Jennifer), of Elburn, Steve, of Ripin, Wis., and Kevin, of Berlin; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Grassie of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James; one grandson, Mike; one sister, Dorothy; one brother, Roger; and his close friend, Bill Berg.
Private services were held in Bisbee.
