Kelly Lando, née Stansel, 41, of Sycamore, passed away May 22, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital.
Kelly is survived by her husband, David, and their dear daughter, Brooke, for whom Kelly had unparalleled devotion. Kelly also leaves behind her mother, Catherine O'Connell; father, Robert Stansel; stepfather, Nick Zivic; in-laws, Barbara and Robert Lando; and brothers, Travis and Ian Stansel, all of whom will cherish the memory of Kelly always.
Kelly found true meaning in her life through motherhood and rose to the daily challenges of parenthood with courage and creativity, raising Brooke to find and value the good in the world. In addition to being a committed member of her daughter's school community, Kelly was a lifelong horse lover and a teacher of horseback riding. In recent years, she took on the challenge of therapeutic riding, helping special needs children to overcome both physical and psychological ailments. Countless young riders through the region will recall the way Kelly instructed them not only with knowledge and experience, but also with her deep well of kindness.
Kelly's generosity and outgoing spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Kelly will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore. Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28. All are welcome. A small luncheon at St. Mary's Memorial Hall, 322 Waterman St., Sycamore, will follow.
