RICHARD F. "DICK" WAGLEY(1926-2012)

DeKALB – Richard "Dick" F. Wagley, 86, of Sycamore, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1926 at his home in DeKalb. The son of Elmer and Anna (Carlson) Wagley. He married June Larson on June 28, 1947 in DeKalb.
Dick was a graduate of the DeKalb High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was the owner and operator of Scala-Wags Restaurant in Sycamore for 25 years. He, along with his wife, June, started the Food Pantry at the Sycamore United Methodist Church in 1993.
Dick was a member of the Sycamore Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars- Post 5768, Sycamore Moose- Lodge 1506, Fraternal Order of Eagles, life member of the Elks- Lodge No. 1392 and the Sycamore Park District Board for 18 years. He shared his passion for golf as a PGA professional and teacher for over 60 years.
Dick was always the rock for his family and friends. His friendship and loyalty were enjoyed by all who knew him. He was a loving husband and father. He was successful in life by touching so many people with his true and sincere personality. He will be remembered dearly and missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June of Sycamore; two sons, Dick (Mary) Wagley of Northbrook and Jeffery Wagley of Sycamore; one daughter, Jane McCormick of Oak Creek, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Jason Wagley of Tempe, Ariz., Jayme (Brian) Mazurski of Clarendon Hills, Andrew Wagley of Royal Oak, Mich., Kyle Wagley of Northbrook, Cameron Howey of Malden, Alex and Nadia McCormick, both of Oak Creek, Wis., Adam Wagley of Chicago, and Scott (Amber) Wagley of Sycamore; two great grandchildren, Matthew Mazurski and Ella Wagley; one sister-in-law, Mary Lu Wagley of Anamosa, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; and one son-in-law, John.
His funeral service will be on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harlene Harden officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, with full military honors.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
