Ruth K. Andresen, 87, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of DeKalb, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Alden Alma Nelson Manor in Rockford.
She was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Evanston, the daughter of Syvert and Rachel (Johannson) Erickson. Ruth married Theodore P. Andresen on Oct. 27, 1945, in Winnetka.
Ruth was a homemaker and member of First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford. She loved to cook, and grow her flower garden and her African violets. Ruth was a former member of Bethany Baptist Church in DeKalb, where she served as social chairwoman and Sunday school secretary. She also was a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir.
She is survived by her husband, Ted, of Rockford; daughter, Vicki (Chuck) Jones of Rockford; son, Jerry (Maudie) Andresen of Malta; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Andresen; and brother, David Erickson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, with Carl McNair of First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
