Timothy F. "Ike" Aikeley, 49, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at home.
Ike was born Oct. 10, 1960, in DeKalb, the son of Kenneth "Ike" and Dorothy (Arnold) Aikeley. He married Lisa Dennis on Nov. 24, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ike was a U.P.S. driver for more than 18 years, and later went to work for the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Ike was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. Ike was a member of the DeKalb Moose Club, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Ike is survived by his wife, Lisa, of Seattle; his children, Jessica (Peter) Bussert of Sycamore, Matthew Aikeley of DeKalb, Branden Aikeley of Steward, and Amanda Toomey and Danielle Aikeley, both of Kirkland; one grandchild, Kenton Bussert; his mother, Dorothy Aikeley of DeKalb; his two sisters, Annette (Ken) Johnson of Brunswick, Ga., and his twin sister, Kimberly (Timothy) Joyce of Spanish Fork, Utah; and three nephews, Colin Joyce and Garrett and Dalton Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating and military honors by the DeKalb Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home.
