Wilma Lee Arnold, 63, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at the home of her son in Sycamore, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Murphy) Smith. Wilma married James Arnold in May 1989, and spent 20 years happily married.

Wilma worked as a waitress in several area restaurants, as the lunch lady at DeKalb High School, and later worked at Auto Meter in Sycamore. Wilma loved to sew, crochet clothes and make quilts for her family and friends.

Wilma is survived by her sons, Jim (Jenny) Boddy and Mike Boddy, both of Sycamore; her grandchildren, Kelsey, Halle and Madison Boddy, all of Sycamore; her mother-in-law, Harriet Royalty of DeKalb; three brothers, Pete Smith and Gary Smith, both of Oklahoma, and Mike Smith of Nevada; her brother-in-law, Jerry (Joan) Arnold of Jamestown, Calif.; her nephew, Ken (Amy) Maddux of Cortland; and niece, Tammy (Randy) Barnhart of Lakeville, Minn. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepmother, Vern Smith; sister-in-law, Connie Arnold; and Evar and Goldie Eckburg.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 3, at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Krueger of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.
