Sweetie, it's been a month since you left us, and I still sense you everywhere. Torie and I would give everything we have, to spend more time with you. We miss you terribly, and yearn for your smile, your touch, and I for your kiss. Know this - 20 years just wasn't enough, but at least I have great memories of the love of my life , and best friend. Always and forever , til I see you again I luv u

Dear Guess Family:

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you especially Bob and Tori. Norma was a wonderful friend and co-worker. I learned much working with her at the City of Joliet. She filled so many roles (all with energy, skill, style) but her best was being a proud Mom. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss of Norma. I met her some years back when we were both at St. Paul's school on the Home and School Assoc. together. I quickly gravitated towards her as I liked her no nonsense outlook. She was honest and very kind. I enjoyed getting to know her. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you during this very difficult time.

Tori and Bob,

I know no one needs to tell you what a wonderful wife and mother Norma was as you alreay know that first hand. But as a friend, she was just as wonderful. I remember her, Kathy, Christy and Robin coming to Nashville to mine and Barry's wedding and the "Long Island Ice Teas". Oh and how could we forget ya'lls wedding. Most of us had figured out what ya'll had instore for the "Costume Party". It was a great time had by all. I met Norma and Tori a few years ago at the Outlet Mall off I-88 and as usual, she was so proud of Tori. She always wanted Tori to have the best. I remember going in the Coach Store and the Kate Spade store and her telling Tori, she would need to wait to see what "Santa Claus" brought her.
Please know the two of you are in my prayers and thoughts and hold strong to the wonderful memories of Norma. I wish I could be there on Saturday to celebrate Norma's life but since I cannot, please know I pray that God will watch over and hold both you in the palm of his hands during this difficult time and the days ahead.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Norma lead Stepping Stones Board of Directors as President for 13 years before relocating to DeKalb. Under her leadership, the organization made great strides by purchasing it's current facilities and greatly expanding its substance use treatment services. Norma demonstrated her natural leadership skills and wisdom during her presidency. Stepping Stones certainly benefited by her service.
