BARBARA HUTCHINS Obituary
She was born Jan. 18, 1922 in Sycamore, the daughter of Rueben and Clara (Hawkinson) Nelson. She married Harry "Hap" Mitchell on March 5, 1943 in Kingsville, Texas, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. He died on March 4, 1995 after a wonderful 52 years together. She later married Earl Hutchins on Nov. 29, 1997, who preceded her in death on April 24, 2002.
Barbara was a graduate of the Sycamore High School, Class of 1940. She worked as a secretary for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. in Sycamore for many years.
Barbara is survived by two children, Stephen (Carol) Mitchell of Sycamore and Cathy Olds of Rockford; 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (Tim) Honkamp, Michael (Jodee) Olds and Jessica (Morgan) Teske, all of Rockford, Stephen (Lisha) Mitchell of Plainfield, Ind., Simon (Christy) Mitchell of Mooresville, Ind., and Zachary Mitchell of Denver, Colo., 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Stuart (Joyce) Nelson of Ga., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands and one sister, Janet McIntyre.
A private funeral service will be on Friday, May 13 at the local family owned and operated, Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory .
Memorials can be made to the Country View Square (Alzheimer's Unit) at the DeKalb Co. Rehab and Nursing Center (DCRNC) in care of the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.

Please accept my condolences on Barb's passing. I worked with her at Anaconda and she was truly a genuiune wonderful human being. The angels were singing when she arrived in the afterlife. She was a friend and I looked to her for lots of advice as a younger person at the time. My thoughts and prayers are will all her family.

My sincere sympathy to all of you. We were Meadow Lane neighbors of Barb & Hap (two doors south) for about 8 years and our kids (Jenny, Peter & Katie) played with all of you grandkids when you visited. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Steve and Cathy, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my aunt Barb. My brother Jimmy keeps us all posted about Sycamore news. I saw her in about 2000 at our Sycamore family reunion. Love from Nancy

To Barb's family we send our sympathy. I worked with her for many years at Anaconda. After we moved to Colorado, we exchanged Christmas cards and she always noted that ours was the first to arrive. Her family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time. She was a wonderful lady.
