Frederick C. Sibley, 71, of Sycamore, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at home, after a battle with cancer.
Fred was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Sycamore, with his twin brother Charles, the son of Francis and Esther (Morison) Sibley. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1956. He then served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and Texas. On Sept. 30, 1961, he married Patricia Henigan at Sycamore Methodist Church, by the Rev. Wayne Leighty.

He was an active member of the Sycamore Veterans Home. Fred also was a member of Univets Post 1 and American Legion Post 99, Sycamore; he was past president of the Memorial Home Board, and Fred was club manager for more than 25 years, doing many things at the club for the citizens of the community. He was president of the Baseball Little League for many years. His proudest accomplishment was when he and his many friends formed the Baseball Complex Committee, of which Fred was chairman for many years, and through his hard efforts, along with many friends and volunteers, the complex was built and is now known as the athletic complex.
Fred is survived by his two sons, Tom (Julie) Sibley of California and Scott (Michelle) Sibley of Naperville; son-in-law, Chad Wiersma of Milton, Wis.; grandsons, Maxwell, Michael and Benjamin Sibley of Naperville and Hunter Wiersma of Milton, Wis.; granddaughters, Logan Sibley of Arizona and Nicole Sibley of California; twin brother, Charles "Chuck" (Ann) Sibley of Genoa; brother, Gerald (Jane) Sibley of Florida; sister, Rose Marie Tarmichael of West Chicago; two sisters-in-law, Sue Henigan of Batavia and Judy (Jim) Cochrane of Malta; several nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Suzanne; and other family members.
Memorials in Fred's name may be made to DeKalb County Hospice, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 4619 Ravenswood Ave., Chicago, IL 60640.
Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, with the Rev. Stephen Persson officiating. Sibley Family,
I am so sorry. You have my sincere sympathies.
I knew Fred in high school; for some reason we would get the giggles in A'capella class. Luckily, we never got caught. As the years went by, it was always fun to see him when I visited Sycamore.
A few years ago I talked with Fred and told him I was sorry to hear about Pat's illness. He quickly
said, "That's okay." He would take good care of her. Such a sweet man.
He will be missed by many.

Our symphony to Chuck and family of Fred. Fred and Jim Tucker (deceased) had taken my 1939 chevy car from the front of my girlfriends house (Linda Frautschy) in 1956. I had to go to the police and report my car as stolen. the police took me home on Commercial street and there they were. I did not press charges. Memories are made of Love. Carol and I both loved him.
We will miss him dearly. God Bless All

To Fred's Family.
There are people that you are acquainted with, then there are friends. Fred was a true friend. We didn't keep in touch often, but when I was in town, I always found Fred to talk to him. He didn't judge me, he was just my friend. When I visited him in the hospital, we talked about alot of things, he missed his wife, he worried about how his kids would be without him, and he would miss his grandkids. I told him I would bet the Kentucky Derby for him and I would miss him. His last words to me were, Tell Don hi and take care of yourself. I will miss Fred.
