DONALD EICHLER Obituary

Donald C. "Chuck" Eichler, 63, of Genoa, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 25, 1947, in Genoa, the son of Donald H. and Barbara (Gates) Eichler, he married Katherine Bruns on Sept. 5, 1981.
Chuck was a graduate of Genoa High School, Class of 1966. He earned his associate's degree in horticulture from Kishwaukee College. Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era.
Chuck worked for the Genoa Township Park District for many years. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Genoa, VietNow and active in the Kishwaukee Heritage Museum. He was an avid horticulturist, fisherman, farmer and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Genoa; his mother, Barbara Eichler of Belvidere; five children, Ryan C. (Alanea) Eichler of N.C., Janet G. Sanchez-Eichler of Ind., Rhonda S. (Tony) Provost of Maple Park, Crystal A. (Charles Rogers) Eichler of Calif., and April R. (Jayson Lucas) Eichler of Genoa; 10 grandchildren and one on the way; five sisters, Iona (Jeff) Drewelow and Anne Eichler, both of Cherry Valley, Eileen (George) McDavid of Calif., Carol (Gary) Rich of Colo., and Charol McClenthen of Belvidere; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; and his grandparents.
His memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Faith United Methodist Church, 325 S. Stott St., Genoa, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Diss officiating.
A visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church.
