DOUGLAS ALLEN Obituary
Doug was married to the former Lyndsy Protano on Sept. 23, 2010, in Sycamore. Doug worked for Upstaging, in Sycamore as one of their mechanics. He lived in the DeKalb community since 2008, moving there from Sycamore. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1996, and he then attended Lincoln Tech in Naperville.
Survivors include wife, Lyndsy of DeKalb; son, Dominick Allen of DeKalb; mother, Debra A. Allen of Kirkland; father, Douglas D. Allen of Wisconsin; brother, David (fiancée Sharon Childers) Allen of Kingston; nephew, Dakota Allen of Kingston; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Randy McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, until the time of the service at the funeral home.

It has been 2 weeks since everyone said their final good-byes. I refused to say good-bye cuz i know when the time is right we will meet again. I miss my big brother, i know your in a better place without pain and that makes it a little easier. I know your ALWAYS with us looking over us. it's hard to belive your gone! god needed a angel and he took the best! just when it feels like everything is going wrong out of no where things start to go right...thats when i know your watching over all of us. Dominick is so strong just like his daddy you would be so proud of him! lyndsy is one of the strongest women i have ever met...even if she doesn't belive it. They both miss u very much but they know you'll always be with them. I miss hearing your laugh and your little jokes. You will forever be the brother i never had. Doug, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. My memories of you go all the way back to kindergarten,working at the pizza place, late night Grandma's coffee runs and just lots of good times.I hope your family can find comfort in the fact that you were cared about by many. Rest in peace.

I do not have one memory from my early days in DeKalb that do not include Uncle Dougie. Doug was a friend. And alway's there to help. We had alot of fun fishing and running the radio's... Even though we didn't see eye to eye
He would alway's shake my hand and smile and leave as a friend.

I've known Doug my whole life and I honestly can't remember a time when he wasn't thinking of others. He always looked out for his friends and family. He couldn't possibly have been a better friend to anyone. He believed in people when others wouldn't and he helped when others couldn't.
I am incredibly saddened by the loss of such a great friend, but I can't help thinking of his family and what they must be going through. In true Doug form, I'd like to put aside my tears and say a few words to the Allen, Poe and Protano families.
A loved one is a treasure of the heart and to lose a loved one is like losing a piece of you. But the love that Doug brought you did not leave, the essence of his soul lingers. It cannot escape your heart, it's been there forever. Try to cling to the memories and let them find their way to help you through this trying time. The love and laughter, the joy and the togetherness you've all shared with Doug will give you strength. Some day down the road, you'll come to realize that your time together, no matter how long or short, was meant to be. You were blessed to have such a precious gift in your life. Keep your hearts beating with the loving memories and trust in your faith, family and friends to guide you through. Know that his kindness, his love, his understanding and even his stubbornness will stay behind to surround and embrace you. Doug has left you that to hold in your heart forever.

I grew up with Doug & he was such a loving and giving person, he always had a smile on his face and could always put a smile on someone elses.
