KENNETH L. "KEN" BAKER Obituary
DeKALB – Kenneth L. "Ken" Baker, 82, of DeKalb, Ill., died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 28, 1930, in DeKalb, the son of Claude L. and Evelyn M. (Aspengren) Baker, he married LuAnn Evalda Sanderson on Dec. 30, 1950, in DeKalb. He was a 1949 graduate of DeKalb High School.
Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and later the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He was the owner of Baker Service Station in DeKalb for several years and later was employed by Warner Auto Parts, and by DeKalb County as the building maintenance superintendent at the courthouse, from which he retired.
He is survived by four children, Larry (Rae Ann) Baker of Dixon, Roger Baker of Boliver, Mo., Lynnette Baker of Sycamore and Kimberly (Eric) Nesbitt of DuVall, Wash.; grandchildren, Jamie (Bo) Bailey, Jill (Tim) Larson, Jason (Megan) Baker, Jennifer (Bobby) Morris, Kristen Baker, Tyler Nesbitt and Jordan Nesbitt; great-grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Joshua, Jacob, Luke, Holly, Mallory, Logan, Peyton, Addison, Austin, Brent, Isaac and MaKenzie; sister, Phyllis Johnson of DeKalb; brother, William (Doris) Baker of Rochelle; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Donna (Robert) Guehler of Somonauk, Norma (Robert) Wildenradt of Sycamore, Maryann Bross of Clare, Charles Lawrence of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Joanne Sanderson of Kirkland, L. Gerald (Linda) Sanderson of DeKalb and Ronald (Dixie) Sanderson of Humbolt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LuAnn, in 2006; his parents; and brother, Richard.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt of First Lutheran Church, DeKalb, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, with full military honors by a DeKalb County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
