Obituary Condolences

BARABOO, Wis. – William Emil Kuschman, of Baraboo, Wis., died peacefully on Oct. 8, 2013, at Artisan Assisted Living and Memory Care in Baraboo, Wis., with his three sons, Bill, Dave and Tom by his side.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1944, Bill attended Augustana College in Rock Island, where he met and married Nancy Mae Nelson.
Bill's career in education culminated in a teaching professorship (Ed.D.) at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb. He earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
Bill and his wife, Nancy, were some of the first property owners at Lake Redstone in rural LaValle, Wis., and enjoyed 20 years of retirement there before moving to Reedsburg, Wis. Bill was an avid writer and reader and had an incredible sense of humor. His kindness and generosity helped many family members and friends.
Bill is survived by his children, William Charles (Ann) Kuschman of Baraboo, David Karl Kuschman of Reedsburg and Thomas Scott (Kathy) Kuschman of Sycamore; grandchildren, Jenny and Kelli Kuschman of Baraboo, and Haley and Joseph Kuschman of Sycamore; and sister, Frances Miest of Lexington, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; and parents, Emil Henry and Frances (Fleuger) Kuschman.
William's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at OakLawn Cemetery, LaValle.
