CAROL LOGUE Obituary

Carol A. Logue, 74, formerly of DeKalb and Sycamore, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at New Albany Care Center in New Albany, Ohio.
Carol was a 1954 graduate of the Ithaca, N.Y., high school, took her Bachelor of Arts at Valparaiso University in 1958 and later received a Master of Library Sciences from Northern Illinois University's School of Library Science. She was a serials librarian at NIU, a catalog librarian at the DeKalb Public Library, and later, director of the Sycamore Public Library.
She was also active in many local organizations, including the University Women's Club (president), Altrusa International (chapter president), the DeKalb Area Garden Club (president), the Columbia Literary Society and the Thursday Arts Club. She was the first paid employee of the Ellwood House Association and later a member of the Board of Directors of the Ellwood House. She was also a 1998 Sycamore Athena Award Nominee. She was active in local historical preservation, including the effort to save DeKalb's brick streets. Trained in French history at the University of Chicago, Carol actively supported her husband during many extended research trips to Paris, which became her second home.
She is survived by her husband, NIU Professor Emeritus of History William Logue; and her sister, Margaret Wells of New York, N.Y., and Salisbury, Conn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert J. Baur and Erna (Hinz) Baur.

You have my heartfelt sympathy. Through the years, I have recalled my contacts with her during our Library School days which were followed with many nice professional contacts. Discussions with Carol were always refreshing.
