DUBUQUE, Iowa – Edward Luther "Ed" Byars, 65, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of DeKalb, passed away on June 10, 2014, at his home.|
Born July 27, 1948, in DeKalb, the son of Sylvester Luther and Daisy (Fry) Byars, Ed married Patricia Clausen on April 8, 1994, in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
He worked as a glazer in the Window Industry in the Dubuque, Florida and DeKalb areas. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Faith Temple Pentecostal Church.
He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He was a CB radio and old car enthusiast, and enjoyed his dogs.
He is survived by his wife Patricia "Trish" of Dubquue; two daughters, Andrea and Eva; two grandchildren, Emily and Sarah; four sisters, Kathryn (Donald) Lockwood of Racine, Wisconsin, Marva (Louis) Moore of Salida, California, Evelyn (Gerald) Simpson of DeKalb and Damaris (Dennis) Keef of DeKalb; one brother, John (Jeanne) Byars of Rochester, New Hampshire; and his two dogs, Toby and Gismo, AKA Heathen and Wezzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gloria Eggers,
The family wishes to thank Manor Care, Mercy Hospital, Hospice of Dubuque and all the health care professionals for all their wonderful care and kindness they gave to Ed.
According to his wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
