Faye Ann Anderson

Born: October 26, 1934; in Story City, IA

Died: September 7, 2018; in DeKalb, IL

Faye Ann (Batman) Anderson, 83, of Genoa, IL passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Bethany Health Center in DeKalb, IL.

Faye Ann was born to Frank Allen and Olive Lucille (Johnson) Batman on October 26, 1934 at her grandmother's home in Story City, IA. Her early childhood was spent in Chicago, IL before moving back to Story City where she spent the majority of her youth. Faye Ann graduated from Story City High School in 1952. On July 31, 1955, she married Wallace Charles Anderson, Jr. in Story City, IA. They settled in nearby Roland, IA and began their family there. In 1973, they moved to Genoa, IL and have resided there since. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this summer.

During her life, Faye Ann dedicated herself to being the best mother, grandmother, Sunday School teacher, scout leader or school volunteer she could be. She ran a home day care for 30 years and considered the children she cared for as part of her family. Faye Ann loved people and always saw the best in them no matter the circumstance. Her optimism and positive outlook were contagious as she taught and demonstrated the value of concentrating on blessings, not hardships.

Faye Ann is survived by her husband, Wallace Anderson, of Genoa, IL; her children, Brian (Jan) Anderson of Granger, IA; Brad (Kelly) Anderson of Libertyville, IL; Beth (Con) Blake of Viroqua, WI; Barbara (Tony) Benzinger of Genoa, IL; ten grandchildren, Erik Anderson, Claire (Brandon) Schnier; Matt (Ari) Anderson, Tim (Courtney) Anderson, Abbie (Lucas) Hansen, Kate Anderson; Will and Alice Blake; Steven and Scott Benzinger; one brother, Larry (Koleen) Batman; and sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Watson, Pam (Dale) Kuehl and Becky Batman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N. State St. in Genoa on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Visitation with the family begins at 12:00 PM. A private burial will be held in Iowa at a later date. A time for fellowship will follow the service at the Church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Genoa Trinity Lutheran Church youth programs, in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135. To sign the online guest book, go to www.ButalaFuneralHomes.com or call 815-784-5191.
