Genevieve "Gen" Nowik, 99, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at Marengo Memorial Hospital on June 12, 2012, in Marengo, Iowa. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was born in LaSalle, Ill., to Jozef and Waleria Nowik.
She retired from Caterpillar after over thirty years of employment. She was active in Caterpillar Retirees Club. She was also a long time member of American Business Women's Association. In 2001, ABWA, Peoria Chapter honored her with their Woman of the Year Award. She was the first president of the newly organized Caterpillar Girls Club at the Morton Plant Parts Department in September of 1958.
She is survived by her son, Francis J. Nowik of DeKalb, Ill.; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, in St. Hyacinth's Church LaSalle, Ill., with the Rev. Adam Stimpson officiating. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 20, 2012, in the Church.
