DeKALB – Helen J. Plucker, 78, of Oregon, Ill., and formerly of DeKalb, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Pine Acres Rehab and Living Center in DeKalb.|
She was born Sept. 5, 1934, in DeKalb, and was the daughter of John J. and Mary (Jordan) McCormick.
Helen graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in St. Charles. She was a bank teller at the Fourth St. Bank and retired in 1988 after 26 years. She was a member of the Bit and Spur Saddle Club.
Helen married Gordon Plucker on Oct. 9, 1953, at First United Methodist Church in DeKalb.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon of Oregon; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Holloway of Dixon and Kathy Plucker of DeKalb; one son, Jeff Plucker of DeKalb; grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Moore of Mt. Juliet, Ind., Brandon Moore of Sycamore, Alex Plucker of DeKalb and Carly Plucker of Skokie; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Holloway of Polo, Ill., Erica (Mike) Pospeshil of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Brad (Kayla) Holloway of Dixon, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Devlin Moore; stepgreat-grandchildren, Lennon, Lyla, Neyo and Nevan; sister, Rosann Shipman; sister-in-laws, E. Phyllis McCormick, Eleanor Williams and Shirley Shedd; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Roberta Lagermeier and Catherine Hakala; and five brothers, John R., Bernard, Don, Malachi and Patrick.
Graveside funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Friday, Sept. 6, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home.
