HINCKLEY – James A. Jensen, 86, of Hinckley, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.|
Born May 30, 1928, in DeKalb, the son of Hans and Emma (McNeely) Jensen, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Honeycutt on Dec. 15, 1951, and they spent the next 62 happy years together.
He was employed for many years by the Hinckley-Big Rock School District, finally retiring at the age of 82. He dearly enjoyed attending all of the schools sports events and loved being with the kids. Jim spent many years as a farmer and also worked in construction. He was a longtime member of the Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jensen of Hinckley; daughter, Becky (Howard) Rosenwinkel of Plano; two grandchildren, Laura (Keith) Keigher of Sandwich and Sarah (Scott) McKinney of Arlington Heights; and great-granddaughter, Claire Keigher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Emma Jensen; sister, Jane Spears Phillips; and dear friend, Roger Skau.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, at Hinckley First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Sycamore St., Hinckley. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, with the Rev. Laura Crites officiating. Friends can visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley.
