James "Boo" Alsup, 68, of Sycamore went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
He was born May 23, 1941, in Belvidere. The son of Berton R. and Mary J. (Poshedley) Alsup. He married Wanda L. Grant on May 4, 1968 in Kirkland.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a fan of NASCAR, loved to garden with his wife and take trips with his family. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spoiling his grandchildren and spending weekends watching his grandsons go-kart race. He was employed by Floit Sand and Gravel Co. in Syamore, retiring after 30 years of service.
Jim is survived by two sons, Thomas (Sandra) Pritchett of Sycamore and William (Trish) Pritchett of Lehigh Acres, FL; two daughters, Debbie (Douglas) Dittbenner of Poplar Grove and Lisa (Michael) Brooks of Belvidere; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Wheeler, Tylania and Grant Dittbenner, Ashlee Brooks, Elliott and Jarrod Pritchett, Trisha, Aaron (Becky) and Jayme Brooks; five great-grandchildren, Griffin and Carson Wheeler, Isabella Brooks, Abbigail and Dyllan Brooks; his siblings, Joseph Alsup of Belvidere, Josephine Hennessy of Colona, IA; Burton (Lynn) Alsup of Kingston, Dorothy Wirth of Belvidere, Joann Alsup of Sycamore and Betty Lou Alsup of Cortland; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, Albert, Raymond and Charles and one sister, Mary Alice.
All services will be private on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Burial will be at the Shattuck Grove Cemetery, near Belvidere.
