Joan R. Barringer, 75, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 24, 1942, in Sandwich, Illinois, the daughter of William and Faith (Naumann) Hardt, Joan married Warren R. Barringer on April 30, 1960 at First United Methodist Church in DeKalb.

Joan's employments included, Rossi Pizza in Waterman, Wurlitzer Piano Factory in DeKalb, Waterman Restaurant, Depot Tavern in Waterman, and Castle Bank in DeKalb. She was a former member of Women of the Moose in DeKalb; she enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Warren; her children, Randy (Kendra) Barringer, Gae (Jim) Sonnenberg, Terry (Steffanie) Barringer; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Barringer; grandson, Benjamin Schultz; sister, Jean Johnson; and her parents.

Family, friends, and those whose lives Joan touched are invited to a Celebration of Life at the DeKalb Elks Lodge, 209 S. Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb on March 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thakkar, the nurses at Northwestern Cancer Center and Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospice for all their kindness and care during this time in Joan's life.
