JOHN COLE Obituary

John Samuel Cole, 90, of Paw Paw, formerly of the Sycamore area, passed away May 6, 2011. He was born Dec. 28, 1920 in Morgan, Colo., the son of Robert L. and Mae Ella (nee Rogers) Cole.
John enlisted in the Merchant Marines in World War II, serving on the Forgotten Convoy on the tough Murmansk run. For many years, he farmed the Dekalb-Maple Park area. He worked for Anaconda until it closed and then for Carls Fargo at the Stratford Inn in Sycamore.
He is survived by his children, Carol E. Herendeen, of Paw Paw, David R. (Billie) Cole of Peoria, Ariz., Laurie (Dennis) Woolstencroft, of Paw Paw, and Tracy (James) Paul, of Necedah, Wis, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, siblings Lucille Simonson, Mabel Smith, Robert I. Cole, and Lois Hoffman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.,m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Torman Funeral Home, 510 N. Flagg St., in Paw Paw. Pastor Michael Morrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
