Mary A. (Alsup) Alvis, 83, of Kirkland, Ill., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere.|
Born March 8, 1928, in Belvidere, the daughter of H. Eddy and Arline Marshall, she married Clyde F. Alvis on Jan. 31, 1981.
Mary enjoyed sewing and cooking delicious meals for her family. She will be dearly missed by her many loving friends and family.
Mary is survived by her four children, Mike (Barb) Alsup of DeKalb, Marta (Dave) Guzzardo of Kirkland, Sue (Jerry) Bidstrup of Sycamore and Paul (Cyndi) Alsup of Genoa; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Alsup of Rochelle; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one stepson, Allen (Janet) Alvis of Mokena; three step-grandchildren; and numerous dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2008; one son, Chris Alsup; and one sister, Joyce D'Orsay.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the local family-owned and -operated Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St. in Genoa. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Pam Rossmiller officiating.
