Mary June Anderson, 90, formerly of Malta, Ill., passed away Monday, May 14, 2007, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 7, 1917, in Rochelle, she was the daughter of August M. and Carrie (Sechler) Zimmerman. She married Vernon Anderson on Feb. 14, 1939, in Rochelle and they had 58 years together.
Mary June was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb since 1939, where she was a member of the Naomi Circle and the Project Group. She also was a member of DeKalb County Farm Bureau and Malta Home Extension.
She enjoyed helping on the family farm in Malta, traveling, crocheting, fishing, baking, reading and participating in all family activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy (Ralph) Schafer, and a son, Larry (Faith) Anderson, both of Malta; six grandchildren, Jacquie (Bill) Young of Clare, Randy Schafer of Malta, David (Sue) Schafer of DeKalb, Roberta Anderson of Portland, Ore., Elizabeth (Jim Adducci) Anderson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jeff (Kate) Anderson of Wood Dale, five great-grandchildren, Katie and Matt Young and Jessica, Sara and Kayla Schafer; a sister, Irma Lu Madden of Mendota; a brother, Bill (Carole) Zimmerman of Rochelle; a brother-in-law, Donald Anderson of Arkansas; and a sister-in-law, Yolanda Anderson of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, and her parents.
Interment of ashes will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Malta Cemetery. A memorial service will follow burial at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in DeKalb, with the Rev. Marilyn Hanson officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
