GENOA – Mary Lu Kelsey, 75, Genoa, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Alden Park Strathmoor in Rockford.|
Born June 27, 1938, in Belvidere, to Charles and Beulah (Bell) McIntyre, Mary Lu attended North Boone High School.
Just one day after her birthday, on June 28, 1958, she married Richard Kelsey in Poplar Grove. Mary Lu was a bank teller for many years at Resource Bank in Genoa. She was a long time member of Faith United Methodist Church of Genoa. She enjoyed being in the church choir, camping and singing in the Sweet Adaline group. She also was a member of the PEO Sisterhood. Most of all she enjoyed being with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Kelsey; two children: son, Larry (Chris) Kelsey of Peru, Ill., and daughter, Lisa Erickson of Genoa; three grandchildren, Zach Erickson, Katie and Brian Kelsey; sister-in-law, Helen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Darlene Worley, Beth Uftoff and William McIntyre; and granddaughter, Kelsey Marie Erickson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Faith United Methodist Church of Genoa, 325 Stott St., Genoa, with the Rev. Melissa Meyers officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Cooper-Quiram Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Main St., Genoa.
